The 10 km section of the Centenary Highway between Garden Road, Richlands and Springfield Parkway will be closed to cyclists during next stage of construction of the Darra to Springfield railway line.
The closure affects only the highway itself, not any paths. It does not affect the shared path on the western side of the highway from Richlands station to Julie Road, Carole Park.
The closure will take effect from Monday, 23 January and will stay in place until late 2012.
Cyclists are recommended to follow an alternative route via Clendon Street, Waterford Road, Boundary Road, Addison Road, Old Logan Road, Nev Smith Drive, Springfield Link Bridge, Ellen Circuit, James Josey Avenue, Lakeside Avenue to Springfield Lakes Boulevard; see the map to the right. Detour signs will be in place, and maps will be provided at each end of the detour.

The project includes more than 7 km of new shared and dedicated bike path along the highway, which will provide a much better cycle connection between Springfield and the existing Brisbane cycle network.
