Kangaroo Point boardwalk/bridge closure

BCC advises that the final section of the Kangaroo Point boardwalk/bridge that was burned is to be replaced starting mid January 2012. Unfortunately, the whole section of the bridge needs to be closed to enable planking, etc to be replaced.

This means that cyclists will have to be diverted up to the roadway along the bottom of the cliff face. This road is also used by vehicles accessing the Riverlife Centre and will be used by Council people delivering material for the work. The road has several acute speed bumps so cyclists will need to exercise caution. The section of that road closed last month is expected to be open again this week, prior to the upcoming closure.

Signs will be in place before Christmas to advise cyclists and pedestrians of the detours. The work is expected to take up to 4 weeks (ending in mid February).
