Call for volunteers: north side leaflet distribution

As discussed at the October general meeting, the next stage of the BUG’s campaign to get the council and state government to build better cycling infrastructure from Kedron Brook to the CBD (including the Northern Veloway) involves raising wider awareness of the campaign, and encouraging individuals to call and write to their local councillors and members of parliament, asking them to deliver better facilities for cyclists.

To this end, we will be handing out leaflets at key locations on the north side this Saturday (26 November) and the following Thursday (1 December), and we’re looking for volunteers to help. We have flyers ready to go with the theme “All I want for Christmas is a safe bike route to the city…

Below are the times and locations we’re currently planning to cover. If you can help out, or you have suggestions for additional locations, contact John Lister at john@cbdbug.org.au. The more volunteers we have, the more effective we can be in getting the message out.

Saturday 26th November (from 9:00am, TBC)
Mercer Road bridge over Kedron Brook
Melton Road crossing near Toombul shopping town
Noble Street Bridge on Enoggera Creek (Wilston side)
Roma Street parklands end of Normandy Underpass

Thursday 1st December (from 7:00am, TBC)
Noble Street Bridge on Enoggera Creek (Wilston side)
Roma Street parklands end of Normandy Underpass
Entrance to RBWH Cycle Centre
Land Bridge Over ICB

One Response to Call for volunteers: north side leaflet distribution

  1. Chris says:

What a shame I can’t attend either!! What about a letterbox drop to the entire community? Give me a few hundred flyers and the streets you’d like me to cover and I’m yours. That’s something I could contribute at times that suit me more.

I like the idea though, and will look forward to hopefully being available the next round!
