National Ride to Work Day

It’s National Ride to Work Day this Wednesday, 12 October. While not as a big a deal in Brisbane as the Queensland Bike Week Ride to Work Day in March, it’s still a good an opportunity for existing cycle commuters to get together for a free breakfast, and for new people to give commuting by bike a go.

There are several community breakfasts around, including a free breakfast hosted by the Department of Transport and Main Roads in Emma Miller Place (corner of Ann Street and Roma Street). Some workplaces are hosting workplace breakfasts; register or ask around to find out if yours is.

The organisers have provided some resources for new commuters, and you can check local maps or contact us for more information.

If you’re planning on riding to work this Wednesday (whether or not you’re planning on attending one of the breakfasts), the organisers would love you to register. Greater numbers help get more attention from the media, politicians, and the wider community, which in turn makes it easier for us to get more support for cycling.
