BCC advises the pedestrian/cycle bridge across Enoggera Creek between Downey Street, Windsor, and Rasey Park, Herston will be closed during the day for two weeks from next Thursday, 25 August.
The closure is to allow work to be undertaken to remove the handrails and panels from the bridge, repair them, and replace them. The work will be undertaken during the day (6:30 am – 6:00 pm), but the bridge will be open overnight (6:00 pm – 6:30 am). It is possible that the bridge will be also be open during the day at some times (after the panels have been removed and are off-site undergoing repairs), but exactly when will not be known in advance, and this should not be relied upon. Temporary fencing will be installed to ensure the bridge is safe at the times it is open.
Alternate access across Enoggera Creek is via the cycle/pedestrian bridge from Granville Street to Gould Road, or via the new cycle/pedestrian bridge between Lutwyche Road and the Northern Busway. To get to the Granville Street bridge from Downey Street follow the shared path to the right along the creek. To get to the new busway bridge use Northey Street to get to Lutwyche Road, then follow the footpath. BCC advises that detour signage will be in place, including maps for the other bridges.
