BCC plans for 40 km/h speed limit in CBD

Brisbane City Council is now formally looking at lowering the speed limit in the CBD to 40 km/h on all streets except Turbot and Ann St. This would make the CBD streets significantly safer for cyclists and allow a greater range of cyclists to be able to use our roads to move around the CBD. The CBD BUG strongly supports this initiative and has written to the Lord Mayor to express its support.

Members are also urged to voice their support through Council’s consultation process or by writing to your local councillor, active transport chairperson Cr Jane Prentice, Central ward’s Cr David Hinchliffe, or the Lord Mayor. Consultation is open until 19 November.
